WP5 e-Platforms and Summer Schools

Work Package 5 focused on the development of the NEDLib e-learning platform and the testing of the final educational content through international summer schools.

The partners analysed existing open-source platforms and selected a suitable solution for the needs of the project. The NEDLib platform was developed as a shared online space where the theoretical modules, practical tasks and learning resources could be made available to librarians, library users and other interested stakeholders.

The platform brought together the educational materials developed during the project. It included four educational manuals covering Information Literacy, Media Literacy, Fake News and Disinformation, and Gamification in Libraries. It also provided access to more than 50 practical tasks and learning activities related to these thematic areas. The practical materials were made available in English, Greek, Bulgarian, Latvian, Portuguese and Romanian.

The e-learning model followed a problem-oriented and game-based approach. This helped connect the learning materials to real-life situations, such as assessing the credibility of information, recognising misleading content and applying critical thinking when using digital resources. The platform supported active learning and encouraged participants to engage with the content in a practical way.

A major part of this work package was the organisation of three international summer schools in Romania, Latvia and Portugal. These events brought together librarians and library users from the partner countries. Participants used the platform, worked with the learning materials and shared feedback on the content, structure and practical tasks.

The summer schools helped the project team evaluate how the platform and learning resources worked in practice. The feedback collected from participants contributed to the optimisation of both the content and the platform. As a result, WP5 created one of the main long-term outputs of the project: an online learning environment that can continue to support media and information literacy training after the end of the project.
