The NEDLib project developed a set of educational resources, practical training materials and an e-learning platform designed to support librarians, educators, adult library users and citizens in developing digital, media and information literacy skills.
The project brought together universities, national and professional library organisations and public library networks from five European countries. Through this cooperation, NEDLib combined academic expertise with practical experience from the library sector and created resources that can be used in professional training, adult education, library services and community learning activities.
The main project results include theoretical educational manuals, practical learning tasks, training activities, summer schools, multiplier events and an online platform providing access to the developed materials.

Educational materials
NEDLib developed educational content in four thematic areas:
- Information Literacy;
- Media Literacy;
- Fake News and Disinformation;
- Gamification in Libraries.
The materials were designed to help librarians and other educators support citizens in assessing information, recognising misleading content, using digital resources critically and applying innovative learning approaches in library and educational settings.
The theoretical content was developed by the university partners and then adapted into practical learning tasks with the support of key librarians and library-related organisations. This process ensured that the materials were both academically grounded and relevant to the everyday work of libraries.
Practical tasks and learning activities
One of the main project outputs was the development of more than 50 practical tasks and learning activities. These tasks were created to support active learning, problem-solving, critical thinking and the practical application of media and information literacy skills.
The practical materials were prepared in English and translated into the languages of the partnership. This made them suitable for use in different national and local contexts and helped librarians work more effectively with adult library users and citizens.
Training and testing activities
The project followed a train-the-trainer approach. Key librarians from the partner countries were selected and trained to support the further use and dissemination of the NEDLib materials.
Local training activities were organised in the partner countries with the involvement of selected training centres. These activities allowed the project team to test the practical modules with librarians and library users, collect feedback and improve the content.
Three international summer schools were also organised in Romania, Latvia and Portugal. They provided an opportunity to test the e-learning platform, use the educational materials in an international environment and gather feedback from participants.
E-learning platform
The NEDLib e-learning platform is one of the main long-term results of the project. It provides access to the educational manuals, practical tasks and learning resources developed within NEDLib.
The platform supports a problem-oriented and game-based learning approach. It can be used for personal learning, professional development, organised training, workshops, seminars and other educational activities.
The materials available through the platform can support librarians, library professionals, educators, students, researchers, adult education professionals, journalists, media specialists, cultural heritage professionals, citizens and library users.
Dissemination and sustainability
The NEDLib results were presented through multiplier events, dissemination activities and the final project conference in Bulgaria. These activities helped promote the project outputs among professional and public audiences and supported their future use beyond the formal project period.
The project results remain available through the NEDLib website and educational platform. They can continue to support libraries, educational institutions, cultural organisations and community initiatives working in the fields of digital competence, media and information literacy, critical thinking and lifelong learning.
Work packages
The project results are presented through the six work packages below. Each work package describes a key stage of the project implementation, the main activities carried out and the results achieved.
