NEDLib Final Conference was Held in Sofia, Bulgaria – 13 July 2026

On 13 July 2026, the Final Conference of the Erasmus+ project NEDLib – Digital Competence and Information Literacy for Librarians (Project No. 2023-1-BG01-KA220-ADU-000167178) took place at Inter Expo Center in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The event brought together representatives of the NEDLib partner organisations from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Latvia and Portugal, librarians, professionals and other stakeholders interested in the development of digital competence, media and information literacy, and lifelong learning in the library sector.

The conference provided an opportunity to present the main activities, achievements and results developed during the implementation of the project. The programme was organised into several thematic sessions covering the overall development of NEDLib and its work packages, the four training modules created within the project, the practical experience of the key librarians, the perspectives of the partner organisations, and the NEDLib e-learning platform.

The first part of the conference, moderated by Marina Encheva from the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT), focused on the general development of the project, its main outputs and the training programme. Special attention was given to the experience of the key librarians, who played an important role in testing and transferring the acquired knowledge into their professional environments.

During the following sessions, moderated by Emmanouel Garoufallou from the International Hellenic University, representatives of the project partners shared their perspectives on the implementation of NEDLib, the cooperation established during the project and the impact of the activities carried out in the participating countries.

An important part of the programme was dedicated to the NEDLib e-learning platform, which provides access to the educational resources developed within the project. The platform and its learning content were presented as one of the key results supporting the continued development of librarians’ digital, media and information literacy competences beyond the official project period.

The Final Conference also created space for discussion, exchange of experience and reflection on the changing role of libraries in the digital environment. Participants highlighted the importance of international cooperation, continuous professional development and practical training in helping libraries respond to new technological and information-related challenges.

The event marked an important stage in the completion of the NEDLib project and provided an opportunity to look back at the work carried out by the partnership, from the development of training materials and local activities to the Summer Schools, pilot training and the creation of the online learning environment.

Following the conference, the NEDLib core project team continued its programme in Bulgaria with the Final Transnational Project Meeting on 14–15 July 2026, accompanied by professional and cultural visits to libraries and cultural institutions.

📚 The NEDLib partnership would like to thank all participants, key librarians, partner organisations and colleagues who contributed to the successful implementation of the project and its Final Conference.
