On 12 and 13 February 2026, the Almada Municipal Library launched a training programme for librarians focused on fake news as part of the Erasmus+ project NEDLib – Digital Competence and Information Literacy for Librarians.
Under the theme “Between Truth and Lies”, the training introduced participants to the growing challenges of disinformation and misinformation in today’s digital environment. The programme was delivered in an interactive format and provided librarians with practical knowledge and tools to help users recognise unreliable information and respond critically to misleading content.
The training was free and certified, supporting participating libraries in preparing future activities for their local communities. By applying the knowledge gained, librarians will be able to help citizens better understand how to identify fake news and protect themselves from the increasing spread of disinformation.
The activity contributed to the NEDLib project’s mission of strengthening media and information literacy and empowering libraries as trusted spaces for learning, critical thinking, and responsible information use.
