The first training for librarians in Latvia was held within the Erasmus+ project NEDLib – Digital Competences and Information Literacy for Librarians.
The training combined theoretical and practical activities and introduced participants to two key topics: information literacy and media literacy. Participants explored methods for evaluating information resources and applied them through group work and practical exercises.
The programme also focused on the influence of media, the way articles are created and presented in different sources, and how advertising can shape opinions. Participants discussed different types of social media, reflected on their own privacy settings and online habits, and took part in group activities using gamification elements.
The training contributed to strengthening librarians’ skills in critical evaluation of information, responsible digital behaviour, and the promotion of media and information literacy among library users.
