NEDLib Media Literacy Workshop Held in Bucharest, Romania – 20 January 2026

On 20 January 2026, the first Media Literacy Workshop under the NEDLib – Digital Skills and Information Literacy for Librarians project was held at the “Ion Creanga” Branch of the Bucharest Metropolitan Library.

The four-hour training session was delivered by Mariana Gavrila and Florin Preda, who introduced participants to practical approaches for addressing the challenges of today’s digital information environment. The programme focused on key topics including information literacy and media education, disinformation and fake news, gamification in libraries, and the role of librarians in promoting information ethics and combating disinformation.

This workshop marked the beginning of a series of training activities designed to strengthen libraries as trusted spaces for reliable information, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. Through these initiatives, the NEDLib project continues to support librarians in developing the knowledge and skills needed to respond to the evolving information needs of their communities.
