From 12 to 14 May 2026, the NEDLib Summer School in Romania brought together librarians and information professionals from Romania, Greece, Latvia, Portugal, and Bulgaria for an intensive international learning programme focused on digital competences, media and information literacy, and tackling disinformation in libraries.
Hosted in Bucharest with the support of the National Association of Librarians and Public Libraries in Romania (ANBPR) and the Metropolitan Library of Bucharest, the Summer School combined interactive workshops, practical activities, and professional exchange sessions. Participants explored key topics including fake news and fact-checking, algorithms and social media, digital identity, online safety, critical thinking, and media literacy for different user groups.
In addition to the educational programme, participants took part in cultural visits and networking activities, fostering international collaboration and the exchange of good practices among library professionals.
The Summer School represented an important step towards strengthening the role of libraries in promoting digital competence, media literacy, and lifelong learning within their communities.
