NEDLib Presented at the Meeting of Directors of Academic, Special and Public Libraries of Latvia – 6-7 May 2026

On 6 and 7 May 2026, the meeting of directors of academic, special and public libraries of Latvia was held in Ogre and Ikšķile, Latvia. The two-day event once again highlighted the importance of professional meetings, exchange of experience and joint discussions on current issues in the library sector.

The meeting was organised by the National Library of Latvia, Ogre Municipality and Ogre Central Library, with the support of the Library Association of Latvia. The participants expressed their gratitude to the teams of Ogre Central Library and Ikšķile City Library for their warm welcome, hospitality and excellent organisation.

A dedicated section of the programme was focused on “National Library of Latvia Support Projects for the Development of the Library Network”. Within this section, the Erasmus+ project “Digital Competences and Information Literacy for Librarians” (NEDLib) was presented as one of the initiatives supporting the professional development of librarians and the strengthening of the library network.

The NEDLib project was presented by Vita Juraga from the Competence Development Centre of the National Library of Latvia and the key librarian Iluta Stanga from Madona Municipality Library.

The presentation introduced the project’s objectives, activities and results, with a focus on the development of digital competence, information literacy and media literacy among librarians. It also highlighted the role of NEDLib in supporting libraries as important educational and community centres in today’s digital information environment.

The event provided an opportunity to promote the project among library directors from across Latvia and to underline the importance of international cooperation, professional learning and shared experience for the future development of library services.
