NEDLib Multiplier Event at Jelgava City Library, Latvia – 13 May 2026

On 13 May 2026, a NEDLib multiplier event was held at Jelgava City Library, Latvia. The event was jointly organised by Jelgava City Library and Salaspils Municipality Library and brought together 28 participants from the libraries of Jelgava and Salaspils Municipality.

The key librarians Viktorija Agafonova and Laura Siliņa introduced their colleagues to the activities carried out within the Erasmus+ project “Digital Competences and Information Literacy for Librarians” (NEDLib). They presented the project website and the online learning platform “NEDLib Library School”. The participants also received an insight into the work of the Thessaloniki Municipal Library and its experience in working with the local community and library users.

The practical part of the event focused on media literacy and digital tools. Participants tested their media literacy skills through an interactive movement game, tried to distinguish real photographs from images generated by artificial intelligence, and explored tools for image and video verification.

At the end of the event, the participants took part in World Café discussions, addressing topics related to media literacy, disinformation and the influence of social networks.

The discussions encouraged reflection on critical thinking, the reliability of information and the role of libraries in today’s digital environment. The event provided an opportunity for librarians to exchange experience, discuss current challenges and explore practical approaches for supporting users in the digital information environment.
