The specific objectives of Work Package 2 are in the first six months of the project’s implementation to identify and select in each country: the trainers (from the partner universities in Bulgaria and Greece) to train the key librarians in all countries of the partnership; the key trainers (librarians and other staff from public libraries in Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Portugal and Romania); the centres (libraries and library branches in the five countries) that will provide the training of a wider group of trainees (librarians and adult library users – citizens of different age, including students and young professionals). The careful selection of the key participants in the project and the centres for conducting the training activities will reflect on the quality of implementation of the next stages of the project and will contribute to the fulfillment of the overall project goal: enhancing the key competencies of a wide group of librarians and library users in five European countries related to information literacy, media literacy, fake news and disinformation, etc.
First of all, the training centres (public libraries) from the five countries in the partnership will be identified. An attention will be paid here on the correct selection of the training centres, since in order to reach a wide dissemination of the results of the project activities, it is necessary a number of territorial specificities in each of the countries to be taken into account. Our goal is to identify libraries that cover the maximum territory of the country, so as to obtain optimal coverage and to enable librarians from more public libraries to participate in the training activities that will be part of the next work packages. Also, the first-level trainers will be identified – the university professors from ULSIT and IHU, who will develop the e-learning content necessary for conducting the trainings of the key librarians from the public libraries and who will be part of the team that will hold the training activities. In the third place, it is necessary to select the key trainers (librarians from public libraries) who will be trained by university professors on the ways and approaches that can be applied when working with information with a view to its evaluation, analysis and avoidance of fake content. They will be also actively involved in the development of the practical part of the educational content, which will be intended for a wider audience of librarians and library users.
